Aveleda Alvarinho is a wine produced exclusively with the Alvarinho variety, a grape variety that is becoming more and more a flagship of the white varieties produced in Portugal.
Being one of the major producers of Vinho Verde, Aveleda created this wine to express the most noble character and complexity of this unique grape. Proud of the result, it is named after our winery's name and our way of working with this fabulous grape.
Aveleda Alvarinho is produced with selected grapes from our estate, Quinta da Aveleda. Once picked, the grapes are placed in small crates and then taken to the winery. After the pelicular maceration, the grapes are pressed. The must is fermented at controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness and fruity aromas of this particular grape variety. Before bottling, the wine is filtered and cold stabilized. Awards:

91.0 Points | Vintage: 2010 BEST BUY - A splendid Alvarinho, produced in the southern Vinho Verde region, with ripe creaminess as well as shafts of lime juice and grapefruit. It’s ready to drink, while it could age for another year. Published: 2011

90.0 Points | Vintage: 2010 This alvarinho has a firm, juicy texture that might convert a chardonnay drinker –it’s not oaked, but the fruit has a toasted almond character from lees aging. That combines with the ripe peach and baked apple flavors to hint at brown sugar, while acidity firms it up and keeps it clean. Dark in tone, this will deepen the flavors of a roast chicken. 89.0 Points | Vintage: 2009 Simple scents of apple deepen into fleshier peach flavors as this wine develops in the glass. It's firm, with a little toastiness to the finish, cool in tone and still relatively closed. The flavors should expand with 6 months in the bottle. Published: 2011

92.0 Points | Vintage: 2009 Alvarinho is the grape of nothern Vinho Verde, giving a style that is rich and complex. The fruit here fits that character, packed with pear, apple and citrus flavors and a light texture of lime zest Published: 2010

92.0 Points The aroma is flinty and a little undeveloped, but the flavors already show layers of fruit, from Mandarin organge and lime to white peach and an anise-like fennel note. The contrast between smoky richness and freshness makes this a luscious wine. Published: 2010

92.0 Points "In 2008, the variety that outperformed all others was alvarinho, layering scents of Mandarin orange and lime over white peach and fennel note. It's complex and luscious...mineral, lean and focused on lemon and orange blossom flavors."
Color: Straw pale color. Nose: Complex flowery aromas, with accents of peaches and tropical fruits. Palate: On the palate this wine presents a very fresh soft and silky elegancy, revealing hints of spicy citrine flavors. Food Pairing: Ideal with fish, seafood, or other similar meals.
